How does one get started on internet marketing? As a newbie myself, after having gone through Ewen Chia’s 2-day coaching session, here are a few quick and simple guidelines that I have picked up along the way.Firstly, decide what you wish to market. Simplest and fastest way to get started would be to join an affiliate program and market it. This way, you can even start without the need to create your own website in certain instances. Some of these affiliate programs even provide you with simple and easy-to-use promotional tools that you can just ‘copy and paste’ into your emails, ads, email signature, banners, etc… Anyone who is able to ‘copy and paste’ can get started on this, no matter what experience you might have. Stop procrastinating, take action immediately and use the tools that are provided and you can start promoting the affiliate product that you have chosen and start earning commissions. If you feel that you would like to have a website of your own, you can do so as well. In this case, you would need to choose a domain name, preferably a catchy and easy-to-remember name, and register it with any of the various hosting companies. Choose your domain name carefully and go for a dot com domain as this is the most common domain used. Yahoo currently provides new account holders with a USD1.99 domain name for the first year.Once you have registered your domain name successfully, you would need to open an account with a web-hosting company. There are some companies that provide hosting services for free. However, you would have to expose your website to their advertisements and you have no say over what ads they host on your website. Thus, if you are serious about your internet business, it’s better to pay for this service. Now you would need to set up the domain name server(DNS) for your domain name. DNS is an
internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses. Because domain names are alphabetic, they’re easier to remember. The Internet however, is really based on IP addresses. Every time you use a domain name, therefore, a DNS service must translate the name into the corresponding IP address. Your web-hosting company should provide you with the DNS information. You are now ready to start creating your website. Again in the market, you are able to find free software to do this which is good enough to get you started. You are now ready to start creating your website. After you have completed your website, you will need to upload the files from your computer to your web-host providers server through a process called File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Once this process is completed, you will have a ‘live’ website where anyone keying in your domain name will be able to access your website.Remember that success is your choice. To your online success.
